Action benefited more than 300 families

in a peripheral neighbourhood of Portugal

Recently, Quinta do Mocho, a peripheral neighborhood in Portugal, attended one of the biggest solidarity events ever held. More than 300 families were helped by 80 volunteers from the Unisocial group.

On occasion, many people in need of help received bags, with rice, beans, pasta, sausage, tuna, milk, oil, biscuit, salt, sugar, tomatoes and wheat flour.

Even before the action started, tickets were distributed, so that everyone could receive their help in an organized way, without crowding.

The moment was of great value, since several local residents that attended were unemployed and without income. Through the donation, many were able to take the food to their tables. In addition to physical help, all the people who were present received the most precious gift: Food for the soul.

Help that ennobles

It was not just the residents that were in need of help that were supported. The Unisocial benefited all, including the volunteers themselves, who did not give up bringing the best to their neighbors.

“It was a very special day, when Universal was able to make a difference through this work. It was not just the bags they received, but also the word of faith.” commented Pastor Francisco Silva, responsible for the Universal in Prisons (UNP) / Unisocial group.

“For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.” (Matthew 25:35-36)
